“Tell Me Lies”

Let me start by saying I believe everyone at least once in their life has experienced their own version of Stephen DeMarco, Nice and sweet in the beginning but if something doesn’t go his way then it’s your fault or you’re the crazy one. Now if you haven’t met your Stephen consider yourself lucky.

The story begins in 2010 with the main character Lucy Albright who is leaving for collage. Her best friend Lydia and her sister Georgia are helping her pack to leave, although little does Lucy know that when she gets to school, everything in the next 4 years is going to change all because of one person.

Once Lucy arrives to Baird Collage, she meets her roommate Jackie and her soon to be new friends Pippa, and Bree. Pippa is currently in a relationship with Wrigley, so he invited Pippa, Jackie, Lucy & Bree to the beginning of the year boat party. Freshmen’s usually aren’t invited to them but because of Pippa’s relationship with Wrigley they were able to get in, and that is where Lucy meets the one and only Stephen DeMarco.

Stephen is currently in a relationship with Diana, but their relationship is not going so well because Stephen cheated on Diana with one of his old ex’s. so, she couldn’t really trust Stephen 100%, but now that Lucy showed up at Baird, she’s all that he can think about he is even putting on a good show hiding who he truly is to Lucy. but somehow still manipulating Diana in the process of it all.

Lucy Knows that Stephen can’t be trusted but she can’t figure out why just yet but somehow it all revolves around an accident that he was in a few years ago. but its like no matter how many times her friends told her to stay away from him he would always find his way back to her in a sick compulsive way.

It’s 2017 and 2 of Lucy’s friends from back at Baird university are finally getting married, everything is going so smooth until Stephen shows up and starts to show his narcissistic side. That’s when all of the flashbacks from college start to hit Lucy all of the trauma he put her through even though she could have done what Diana did and just walked away but he had her in the palm of his hands waiting for the day he can finally expose her and her group of friends.

Now personally I liked the Hulu show a lot more than I did the book, but the book has more information and characters, but the show showed more about Lucy and Stephen and the rollercoaster of trauma that he caused. So honestly out of every book I have read that followed with a movie or TV show. this would probably be the only one that I preferred the show over the book, but don’t get, me wrong the book was still good but it just wasn’t one that I would read again.
